Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, returns to one of the northeast's trickiest tracks for the ACT Late Model Tour Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Sunday, September 5. The 16-year-old high school junior made his debut at the track an impressive one -- finishing seventh in the non-points Vermont Governor's Cup 100 in late June. Theriault enters the weekend having finished fifth last time out in the all-star "Showdown at Chaudiere" and having been named as one of the 43 drivers who will be in the starting field for the 2nd annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway later this month. Ninth in the overall ACT standings and leading the Rookie of the Year race by five points with three races remaining, Theriault has five Top-10 finishes in eight starts.

Fort Kent Teen Will Race On New England's Biggest Stage

FORT KENT, Maine -- One year ago, he was toying with the idea of racing a Late Model for the first time. In a few weeks, he'll race one on New England's largest speedway.

Austin Theriault was one of the first 20 drivers named to the starting grid for the 2nd annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The 43-car field for ACT-legal Late Models will compete in a 60-lap race at the 1.058-mile oval on September 18 as part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sylvania 300 weekend -- the first of 10 races in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

This showdown at Chaudiere was a special all-star race featuring 12 top drivers from the Quebec-based Série ACT Castrol Edge against 12 of the top drivers from the American-based ACT Late Model Tour. The race took place on July 14, 2010 at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, QC. Austin finished 5th place.
